Ben is Head of Public Policy at Black Forest Labs, a developer of frontier AI models for visual generation and action prediction, including the most popular open-weight AI models globally.
An Affiliate and former Fellow, Ben scrutinizes the regulatory and legislative response to AI models, engaging policymakers around the world to promote open innovation in future rules. Ben has testified on AI regulation before federal, state, and international legislatures. Previously, Ben advocated the safe, open, and durable regulation of a range of emerging technologies, including model weights at Stability AI (the custodian of Stable Diffusion), ridesharing at Uber, digital assets at Coinbase, and drone delivery at Google's Wing—America's first FAA-certified drone "airline". To date, he has worked with authorities on the ground in over 25 countries as they navigate complex reforms in high-stakes or permission-based domains, from Hanoi to Helsinki, London to Lagos, and Montreal to Mandalay.
